Captain John C. Hurst Memorial Scholarship

Fellow Marines and friends of Captain John C. Hurst established this scholarship in his memory. Captain Hurst was killed in action in Vietnam on July 13, 1968. He was a pilot who had flown over 200 missions and had been awarded 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses, one of the Marine Corps highest decorations. He was a quarterback on his high school football team, president of his fraternity at the University of Texas, and a leader of men.
