Dr. Forrest C. Orman and Mary L. Orman Endowed Scholarship in Health Careers

Dr. Forrest Orman was the first board certified general surgeon in East Texas. After his graduation from Rice University and the University of Texas Medical School (Galveston Branch), he served in the U.S. Army in WWII, and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic service. He completed surgical residency at Jefferson Hospital in Roanoke, VA, and the graduate program of the School of Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. The Ormans moved to Lufkin in 1952 where Dr. Orman practiced until his retirement in 1983. This scholarship in honor of Forrest and Mary Orman is open to all full time students in the health careers disciplines.
